Patrons and staff of Delta Bingo & Gaming raised over $20,000 last month for the Canada-Ukraine Foundation’s Humanitarian Appeal, a recent campaign aimed at providing emergency shelter, food security and medical supplies to residents of Ukraine.

“Watching all of the devastation unfold in Ukraine, we knew we needed to help in any way that we could”, says Shawn Fisher, Chief Executive Officer, Delta Bingo & Gaming. “We have some of the most generous customers, employees, and other partners that we knew would be eager to join us in this effort and offer their support. We are thrilled that we were able to come together and make this happen”

Throughout the month of March, all Delta Bingo & Gaming locations across Ontario participated in a donation-matching program with Delta Bingo matching patron and employee contributions up to $20,000.

One Delta employee, Oksana P’yatnochka, was particularly moved by the fundraising efforts. “As a Ukrainian immigrant myself, I have personally benefited from organizations like this during my transition to Canada”, says P’yatnochka. “And to now work for a company that sees the importance of these initiatives and looks to support in any way they can, it means the world to me.”

Canada-Ukraine Foundation President and CEO, Orest Sklierenko, was on site at Delta Bingo St. Clair to accept the donation. “I am truly so thankful for the generosity of Delta Bingo’s staff and customers,” says Sklierenko. “These funds are crucial to the work that we are doing in Ukraine and will go toward continuing to deliver humanitarian aid – including food, hygiene kits and medical packages – to the millions of affected Ukrainians inside Ukraine and those who find themselves in neighbouring countries.”

Delta Bingo & Gaming CEO Shawn Fisher presented a cheque for $20,000 to Canada-Ukraine Foundation CEO Orest Sklierenko, on April 7th at Delta Bingo & Gaming in Toronto.
