Delta Bingo & Gaming supports CYO Heat Hockey Program
The St. Catharines CYO Heat is a hockey program, which supports those individuals with special needs learn and enjoy the game of hockey.
Now in its 16th year, the CYO Heat was established to ensure that those within the Niagara Region including, players from Hamilton to Fort Erie with special needs, be it physical or developmental, have an opportunity to participate, play and enjoy Canada’s favorite past-time. Players of all ages are welcome and a desire to learn and play the game and enjoy the experience is all that is required. On a yearly basis, approximately 50 players participate in this program.
The CYO Heat have a weekly on-ice program which entails instructional time teaching the various elements of the game – skating, puck control, team work, team play and game environment. This program supports players of different ages with a wide-variety of skills. Junior and Senior sections are established on the ice, based on skills – not age. The CYO Heat is proud to boast a remarkable volunteer base of coaching and supporting staff providing high coach to player ratio.
Fundraising is essential to this program as it allows the CYO Heat to offer this program at an affordable rate. Fundraising helps offset the cost so, that individuals that otherwise cannot otherwise afford to play now have the opportunity to participate and enjoy the game of hockey!
Both the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 24 and St. Catharines CYO Minor Hockey, support this wonderful program through charitable bingo gaming revenues raised at Delta Gaming St. Catharines.
This year, the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 24 provided monies to help offset the cost of ice and is looking to further support this program based on revenues received and other commitment. St. Catharines CYO Minor Hockey also supports this program by helping to subsidize the registration cost making hockey more affordable for everyone.
