David Busby Street Centre

The David Busby Street Centre supports Barrie’s most vulnerable citizens and works towards alleviating poverty and homelessness in the community. Through their partnership with Delta Boardwalk Gaming Centre Barrie they raise $9,000 annually. The Centre provides a variety of services including employment resources, mental health and addiction counselling, transportation and housing support. Perhaps the most impactful service they provide is free meals to those in need, offering a drop-in breakfast program and an outreach van that travels throughout Barrie to deliver meals and mobile services to those in need. In 2015, the Street Centre Outreach van provided 11,500 meals with an additional 6,800 individuals attending their drop-in breakfast program. With the help of funds raised through Charitable Gaming, the Centre hopes to provide a 24-hour emergency shelter for up to 30 individuals beginning in late 2016.
